From my perspective, this venue is a beautiful barn place to get married if you are looking for a barn wedding in Devon as it offers a variety of different spaces to suit every need and of course, this venue already looks beautiful without the need for additional decoration.
From a wedding photography standpoint, it has many areas where couples can go to have their photos taken. Down by the lake is a place I often take my couples, for their couples shoot. This area apart from having beautiful views, allows couples some space to themselves for a few minutes but still is close enough to their wedding so they are not away from their wedding party for too long.
Another of my favorites, especially for a night photo, is just in front of the pergola as all the plants and surrounding foliage is light so when you light the couple you get a stunning evening portrait.
The service is also impeccable and attentive to detail, making it the perfect venue for any couple’s special day. From the moment you enquire about their services, their wedding coordinators and staff are dedicated to ensuring your wedding day is everything you’ve dreamed of. Their professionalism and expertise are evident in every aspect of their service. There are many wedding venues I have photographed at that have not been as good to suppliers as they have to the couple. Upton is not one of them, the staff are friendly and accommodating and go above and beyond to accommodate your every need.
Getting ready
The paddock and stalls are just a few meters away from Upton’s restored 17th-century cider barn and offer a beautiful getting-ready room with views across the paddocks, for your wedding party to enjoy on your wedding morning. The getting-ready room is a luxurious, purpose-built, spacious area with elegant décor and plenty of room and windows that flood the venue with natural light, and provide the perfect setting for wedding day preparations with that all-important touch of luxury.
As a wedding photographer, I have to say that this is probably one of the best getting-ready spaces I have worked in. The natural light at The Paddock & Stalls at Upton is wonderful to work with as it allows me as the photographer to work in a photojournalistic way as no area within the room is too dark. Photographers are always looking for the light to get the best results, so not having to set up flashes for a dark room means more time and more time equals more photos.
