When I arrived at the venue, I could feel the excitement and anticipation in the air. The bride, Bex, had initially planned to have a friend take photos in the morning, but unfortunately, her friend had to cancel at the last minute. Thankfully, she had hired me for the ceremony and the reception and I could see the relief and happiness on her face knowing she could rely on my expertise to capture every precious moment.
The ceremony took place in the stunning countryside of Barnstaple, and despite the initial uncertainty of whether it would be held outside, the weather held up beautifully. The barn was adorned with vibrant flowers and rustic decorations, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Bex looked absolutely radiant in her homemade wedding dress, a true testament to her creativity and talent. Her bridesmaids, dressed in stunning cornflower blue dresses, complemented her perfectly, adding a touch of elegance to the occasion. But it was the children who truly stole the show, dressed in adorable little suits, they brought an extra dose of cuteness to the day.
As more guests arrived and the day turned to night, the atmosphere transformed into a lively celebration. The couple had arranged for a bouncy castle and a bucking bronco, providing both laughter and entertainment for the guests. I couldn’t resist capturing the joy and excitement on children’s faces as they jumped and tumbled on the inflatable castle.
But it was during the evening when the real fun began. The band, White Light, took the stage and started their gig, filling the barn with energetic music that got everyone on their feet. It’s moments like these that I live for as a photographer. The guests were relaxed, having the time of their lives, and I seized the opportunity to capture candid shots of their pure happiness.
Towards the end of the night, I knew I had to find a “wow” photo that would be the perfect ending to this beautiful day. I had an idea to use Whitemoor Farm’s wedding gazebo as a backdrop, creating a magical and romantic atmosphere. I guided the couple there, and as I took the final shot of the evening, I knew it was a winner. The soft, warm glow of the lights combined with the couple’s loving embrace made for a truly breath-taking image.
Being a wedding photographer is not just about capturing images—it’s about being a part of someone’s special day, witnessing their love and joy, and ensuring that those precious moments are forever preserved. This wedding at Whitemoor Farm was filled with emotion, artistry, and vibrant colours. It was a reminder of why I love what I do. The memories created that day will live on through my photographs, and I am grateful to have been a part of such a memorable celebration.
