The Wedding of Abbie and John
Shenish Manor
Abbie and John were married at St Mary’s Church in Hemel Hempstead before celebrating at the grandeur of the Shenish Manor Hotel.
I had the privilege and honour of photographing this couple with my good friend Sally and the following photos highlight a few key moments from the day.
Our day began heading for Shenish Manor, a beautiful hotel in the style of a Georgian manor house. Usually, on the day of the wedding and before shooting a wedding, I like to go around the property scouting out key locations for photographs. This is important in general and manages to save a lot of time in the busyness of the day, but when you do not know the venue I believe it is even more important to ensure you know where the best locations for photographs are.
The day was beautiful, one of those Indian summer days we sometimes have in early autumn and after completing the location scout and taking photos of the reception room we made our way upstairs to the girls for bridal prep photos.
Abbie and her five bridesmaids had chosen to stay the night before and the room was buzzing with makeup, hair preparations and plenty of wine so lots to photograph. Taking candid photos we were able to tell the story of the girls getting ready for the wedding in an unobtrusive way however we did also take the classic shots as requested by the bride and even had some time for a fun shot of the girls bouncing on the bed.
