When Sarah and Neil originally came to me one of the first things we talked about was their engagement shoot. Prior to the shoot, in the planning meeting, I had asked her and her fiancé to find about 10 engagement picture ideas from Pinterest that they loved and tell me why they loved them. When they presented the pictures to me it was very easy to see the sort of photographs that appealed to them as a couple. They were drawn to images that depicted nature. They were looking for engagement ideas coupled with artist images that would make her engagement photos stand out from the rest but include aspects that they loved so much such as reflections.
So when it came to the choice of location for the photo shoot there was only one real choice. When planning a pre-wedding shoot I always ask my couples to try and think of a place for their engagement photos that has real meaning for them and ideally is very different from the wedding venue location. This provides the couple with different imagery and allows me to really personalise the photos to reflect their personalities. For Sarah and Neil the place they choose was Decoy Park in Newton Abbot as this is where they first started dating. Now many years on and a few children later it seemed like the perfect place to celebrate this important milestone in announcing their engagement to the world.
